What are food allergens?
Food allergens are any substances which may cause "allergic reactions" of the immune system in some individuals.
Allergens are naturally present in foods but can also occur through cross contact; during processing; cooking or digestion. Common food allergies include milk, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish. These foods are perfectly safe for the majority of people but may cause a reaction in some individuals.
How do you manage food allergens that are present in your products?
As part of our good manufacture practice and food safety schemes we have compiled a global list of known food allergens which is constantly updated. By working closely with all of our suppliers we are able to identify any potential allergens that may be present in our products and then label those products accordingly.
All of our employees are educated in the importance of allergen management while our ingredient suppliers, contractors, packagers, bottlers and licensees are required to meet our Global Supplier Standard, which allows us to identify the potential presence of major allergens.
