Britain and Ireland is the largest confectionery business in BIMA, representing around 80% of revenue. We currently have a leading 28.1% share in the UK, the world’s second largest confectionery market. We sell chocolate principally under the Cadbury brand, including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Flake, Creme Egg and Crunchie, and also Green & Black’s. Our candy brands include Bassett’s, Halls, Maynards, The Natural Confectionery Company and Trebor. Trident gum was launched in the UK in early 2007 and secured a 10% market share during its first year.

We are the leading confectionery group across Africa and the Middle East. Our main operations are in South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt.

In South Africa, we have the leading market share at 31%. We sell chocolate and candy under the Cadbury and Halls brands, and, with the acquisition of the Dan Products business in 2006, we now have a leading share of the South African gum market, mainly under the Stimorol brand, at 57%.

In 2006, we increased our shareholding in Cadbury Nigeria to 50.02%. The Nigerian business sells candy, food beverages and bubble gum, with lead brands including Tom Tom, our biggest selling candy in Africa, Bournvita and Bubba bubblegum.

In Egypt, we sell products under the Cadbury, Bim Bim and Chiclets brand names and have a 41% share of the market. We also operate in Morocco, Lebanon, Ghana and Kenya.
