NEWS ALERT: Our trading update on 14th October 2008 outlines changes to our organisation and management structure which will be implemented in the coming months. For additional information please see our October Trading Update.

In the US, the world’s largest confectionery market, we have grown our gum market share from 27% in 2003 to 34% in 2007. Much of this growth is due to the success of our core brand, Trident. In 2006, we also launched a new brand, Stride, now with a 7% market share. We also have one of the leading 'intense' gum brands, Dentyne. Our candy business has grown since the integration of Adams.  Local favourites, Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids, enjoyed doubled digit growth in 2007 and Halls remains the number one cough drop with a 56% share. Our newest frontier is chocolate, with the expansion of Green & Black's premium organic range.

We are number one in Canada, the world’s 11th largest confectionery market, with an overall 20% market share, and leading market positions in gum, candy and cough/cold confectionery, and a top three position in chocolate with Cadbury.

In Latin America, we have the leading overall confectionery market share at 18%.  We have a 65% share of the Latin American gum market, with leading market shares in Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina and Colombia. We also have the second largest share of the candy confectionery market at 9%. We also sell chocolate in Argentina and Mexico. We have a broad-reaching distribution infrastructure in Latin America which enables us to supply a diverse customer base of small shops and kiosks.
