Cadbury Research Team Industrial Placement

Purpose

The Cadbury Research Team undertakes projects in response to company needs.  You will contribute to this by assisting in carrying out specific projects, in conjunction with a project team, to solve technical challenges associated with the development and production of confectionery, meet nutritional or cost constraints in product formulations, improve product preference and create competitive advantage for our products.

Accountabilities

1. To work independently but as a team member, conducting practical programmes as outlined by the project manager, carrying out practical work and other necessary duties to meet the requirements of the brief.
2. To work in an organised manner within tight deadlines to reach agreed milestones within expected time scales.
3. To maintain a record of the day-to-day practical programmes as outlined by the project manager in workbooks.
4. Assist in conducting and co-ordination of pilot scale trials.
5. Assist in producing prototype products for presentations to project stakeholders.
6. To maintain a general awareness of food market developments through reviewing relevant literature, attending appropriate exhibitions and meeting with ingredient or technology suppliers.
7. Assist in general development kitchen and process hall maintenance to ensure the smooth running of these areas.
8. Develop good working relationships with members of the research team and with relevant RSSL analytical laboratories.

Pre-requisites

In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have/be:

• Studied or be studying for a science or food science degree (or equivalent) with proven academic record including A-level standard (or equivalent).
• Able to demonstrate a keen interest in practical aspects of science, a willingness to learn, and an ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Well organised and self-motivated.
• Accurate and efficient with the ability to organise oneself to meet specific deadlines.
• Able to converse with clients and colleagues in a professional manner and demonstrate good written skills.
