Milk Sourcing Group Manager

Brief summary of career so far and an overview of current role:

I have a BEng and Msc. in Civil Engineering from Cardiff University.  Prior to joining Cadbury I worked for Proctor and Gamble as a process engineer in their Pampers Nappy Plant in Manchester.

I joined Cadbury in 1999 as a Shift manager in the Marlbrook factory in Herefordshire, after 2 years I then moved onto days working as the Focus Manager acting as a link between the 5 Shift managers.  My last role at Marlbrook was the Physical Logistics manager responsible for everything in and out of the factory.

Current role:

I moved across from manufacturing to PBS in March 2008 and am really enjoying the challenge.  I am responsible for all of the milk bought in the UK and Ireland whether that is directly from the farmer or from a Co-op – a total of over 200 million litres a year!

What do you love about working at Cadbury?

When I meet people for the first time and they ask what I do all I have to say is I work for Cadbury and their faces light up – it’s great working for a company that grabs everyone’s attention!  If you are prepared to put yourself out and work hard the opportunities are endless – in my instance from Shift Manager to Milk Manager!

What has been your favourite role and why?

I have to say my current role, what other role could have you negotiating with a co-op in Ireland one day, then visiting a farmer in Wiltshire the next day, then working with the manufacturing team planning the 2009 milk requirements the day after.

What has been your most difficult role and why?

My hardest role was as a Shift Manager in Marlbrook as there were long periods of time on weekends and nights that you were completely accountable for the whole site – also Marlbrook is a 24hr / 365 day operation so going to work on the Christmas Eve night shift is not fun!

What is your favourite product and why?

Cadbury Dairy Milk – with all of that fresh milk it couldn’t be anything else!
