"I’m proud about the things we do here"
'If I had to sum up working for Cadbury in three words, I'd say it's challenging, interesting and rewarding.
'My typical day is very hard to describe as it all depends on the current project. Overall, most days will involve liaising with ingredient suppliers, third party technology suppliers and business units from around the globe to try and solve any problems in projects. I also talk to various other members of the Cadbury research team.
'I graduated with a BSc (Hons) Food Science (European) from the University of Leeds in 2000 and had spent the previous summer as a Quality Control technician for George Adams & Sons.
'When I became a Scientist with Cadbury in 2000, my responsibilities and achievements multiplied. I was fully trained in UKAS accredited methods used in the Physical Science Laboratory and am now Project Manager for various Cadbury group research projects. I also research projects for individual business units and have even presented results of these projects at the annual Cadbury research conference. These projects include anything from problem investigation and solving to product improvement.
'The most rewarding moment in my career came as part of some patent defence work, where I had to repeat some work not performed for over ten years. The most unlikely place my job has taken me was Wroclaw in Poland - I would never have thought of going anywhere like that before, but it was a really nice place!
'It sounds corny, but when I talk about my job, I'm proud of the fact Cadbury is always seen so positively - the worst thing is dealing with my friends always asking the same sorts of questions - why Easter egg chocolate seems nicer and why Creme eggs seem to be getting smaller!'
