I think the key benefit of CIMA is that you are learning things which are actually practical and useful in your working life. The qualification does involve an investment of time but it is so much easier and more motivating to study when you can see, as I have across different roles, how it relates to what you are doing.

For me one of the best aspects of CIMA is that you learn not just about finance but about broader business topics such as HR, marketing & project management. This is pulled together in the final case study where you learn about a business and have to write a report identifying and analysing the issues and providing recommendations from a full business and industry perspective. I found this really interesting (and surprisingly enjoyable!) as it emphasised how you can personally use your knowledge to really add value to a company. This is great for people like me who have no finance/business background (I did a history degree...) and fits in well with the fact Cadbury strongly encourages people in finance to act with a general management mindset rather than just dealing with the numbers.
