“Places I've worked since joining as a graduate include Johannesburg, Athens, New York and Paris, so life is never dull!”
a day in the life of Chloe as a Graduate Auditor...
"There's no such thing as a typical day in Group Audit. Each day is extremely varied and interesting and provides a new surprise. The work location is just one of the things that can change, with my role involving 60% travel within Europe, Middle East and Africa. Examples of places I've worked since joining as a graduate include Johannesburg, Athens, Hamburg, New York and Paris, so life is never dull. And as far as possible, we try to operate in the native language, so I've also had the chance to test and develop my German and French skills.
"Today is the first day of an audit in Germany, so my day has been very active with a wide range of different activities covered. We've had a tour of the factory to try and understand the whole production process from start to finish, which is always really interesting. The factory here manufactures all products within the Schweppes range, so I've seen everything from the original source of water to the finished product coming off the production line. Having seen the production makes you even prouder when you see the final product on the shop shelf. That's an extremely satisfying part of my job.
"I've seen fizzy drinks being made in South Africa, gum being produced in Denmark, as well as chocolate being manufactured in the original Cadbury factory in Bournville. It's so exciting to have the opportunity to get insight into so many different areas and be given the responsibility to work with some of the top people within our organisation. The constant challenge gives you a buzz and makes you happy to be going to work in the morning!
“Roles I have undertaken include:
Graduate Auditor (Sept 03 - Aug 05)
Cadbury World Finance Analyst (Sept 05 - Aug 06)
Finance Analyst, Customer Logistics (Sept 06 - Dec 06)
Finance Manager, Control and Projects, L&CO (Jan 07 - Sept 07)
Feedstocks Finance Manager (Oct 07 - Mar 08)
FP&A Finance Manager (Apr 08 - Apr 09)
Category Supply Manager Gum and Candy (May 09 - Present)
“One of the things that has impressed me since joining Cadburys is the calibre of my colleagues. I feel they continuously stretch me to ensure I reach my full potential. This coaching has been particularly useful whilst studying for CIMA, where it has been hugely beneficial to gain advice from my wide network of finance colleagues.
"A 'buddy' scheme is integrated into the graduate scheme and my buddy was particularly helpful from the offset in helping me adjust to life in a new city and new ways of working. I now have a mentor with whom I can discuss anything from day to day issues to longer term careers advice.
"After six years in the business, I've now worked with many people from the wider finance community and have gained a great deal of exposure to the top levels within the business. The dynamic working environment, fantastic brands and collaboration between everyone in the business make a great place to work."
